Terence Gregory Lyons was born January 22, 1958, in Washington DC to Florence Elaine Lyons and the late Henry Leon Lyons. Suddenly and unexpectedly, on November 16, 2020, Terence transitioned to be with the Lord.
Terry attended Paul Junior High School, where he played the trombone in the band. As a teenager, he and his friends could be found playing basketball on the neighborhood basketball courts. He was an avid sports fan, especially football, and basketball. In his youth, he also played Baseball in the Ronald McDonald League. Terry was a Boy scout, which helped contribute to the person he became.
In 1976 Terry graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, and later, he attended Montgomery College for two years; Terry decided to get his Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Terence held several jobs throughout his life, but for the last 34 years, he was a dedicated worker for Giant Food.
Terry was the eldest child of Florence and Henry, followed by his sister Denise and brother Christopher. Terry had a bond with both of his siblings but a special one with Denise being close in age. Terry was a great son and an amazing older brother. He was a man of kind words; Terry was full of laughter, jokes, and good times. He was a dependable man always there to lend a helping hand, whether it was being an unpaid chauffeur or being an all-around good friend.
In 1984 Terry met Mercia Demorais, and through their love, their daughter Dyandra was born. Dyandra was the apple of her father’s eye from the first time he laid eyes on her, and he took pride in going above and beyond to keep a smile on her face. Terry had two granddaughters, which he adored. Terry was devoted to their happiness, his “sweet cheeks,” as he affectionately called them. He would not hesitate to do whatever necessary to make them happy, whether it was hours of outdoor playing or letting them climb on his neck for a ride around the house. His granddaughters would not let the night end without making “PaPa” lay in their tent and play with their barbie dolls, which he did with so much excitement.
He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Lyons, and younger brother Christopher Lyons. Terry leaves to mourn his passing his mother Florence Elaine Lyons, his sister Denise Lyons Fleet (Douglas), his nephew Devin Fleet, his daughter Dyandra Demorais, his two grandchildren Taylor and Marlei Philippeaux, one uncle, Eugene Mclean, and his brother Eugene Best (Nancy)and their three daughters and a host of family and friends.
