Paul Johnson Obituary

Paul Edward Johnson was born to Clifford and Juanita Johnson on July 11,1949 in Nashville, Tennessee. After a lengthy illness, he transitioned into eternal rest on June 28, 2020. Paul was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System having attended Kelly Miller Junior High and Spingarn High School. He decided to leave DC Public Schools at the end of his junior year and transferred to Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC), where he enrolled in the Automotive Mechanics program. This is where he discovered his true passion, working on cars and trucks. Upon graduation Paul began his professional career as a Diesel Mechanic at the Hecht Company Warehouse. He later worked for Airborne Express. Though working on cars was his passion, he always returned to his first love, the family business, Johnson and Son’s Construction Company. Paul married Rochelle Johnson in June 1974 and from this union two children were born, Ryan Paul Johnson and Trina Diane Johnson. Paul loved dancing, fishing, bowling, coloring, spending time with family and friends and most of all cheering on his favorite team The Washington Redskins. Paul leaves to mourn a devoted son and daughter, five grandchildren, Jesamyn Johnson, Junice Dunn, Amani Johnson, Davouz Johnson and DeShaun Savoy, two loving sisters Dolores Barnes and Bernadine Toye (Ricardo). He is proceeded in death by his mother, father and older brother Richard Johnson. Paul’s memory will continue to be shared by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends, especially those at the Stoddard Baptist Nursing Home.
