Biography
Patrick Larell Alfred was born on August 14, 1963 in Washington, DC to the late Johnnie Ray Alfred and Dorothy Annette Slade, and suddenly departed this life on Sunday, February 21, 2021.
Patrick was a God-fearing man and always kept his faith in God. He gave his life over to God at a young age at Riverdale Baptist Church. He was a long-standing member of Reid Temple A.M.E. Church in Glenn Dale, Maryland. He was educated through the Maryland public school system and attended DuVal High School in Lanham, Maryland. By trade Patrick was a professional drywall finisher and loved working with his hands, showing his creativeness, and later became a Mechanical Engineer.
As a child, he was happy, full of energy, mischievous and had a deep love for family and friends. Patrick considered himself a conversationist who loved laughing, dancing, and having a good time! He mostly enjoyed spending quality time laughing and joking with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He loved people and affectionately gave his loved one’s nicknames that stuck with them for a lifetime. As a creative spirit he enjoyed literature, writing poetry and had a life-long dream of becoming a playwright.
Patrick was preceded in death by both of his parents; Johnnie Ray Alfred, and Dorothy Annette Slade (John R. Slade Jr.); his maternal grandparents, Walter and Dorothy May Johnson, and his paternal grandparents; Harry and Maggie Lee Alfred.
He is survived by his loving and caring daughter, India Smith (Thaddeus), and a son, Darell Alfred; two sisters, Angela Alfred and LaVonda Harley; two brothers, John R. Slade, III (Corliss), and Jeffrey Barton; four grandchildren, Phoenix Smith, Aaron Smith Jr., Ivy Smith and Lyric; ten nieces and nephews, Sade Alfred, Jabaree Alfred, NaTasha Perry, Antoine Perry, Jazmine Harley, John R. Slade IV, Paul Slade, Marcus Slade, DeVonte Barton and McKenzie Barton; a great-niece, Venus Gardner; two great-nephews, Lawrence C. Brown Jr. and Corey Brown; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
