Marquett Riley, affectionately known as "Mickey” was born on July 14, 1957 in Washington, DC to the late William L. Riley Sr. and Edith Coley. Mickey attended DC Public Schools throughout his youth. Mickey was one of the founding members of Prayer Temple Bibleway Church under the direction of the late Bishop Gary Richardson. It was there that Mickey was baptized and received God into his heart at a very young age.
As a youth, one of Mickey's favorite pastimes was playing ping pong. Mickey was often employed each summer under Mayor Barry's Youth Leadership Program. One summer, he was blessed with a summer job at the Potomac Gardens Recreation Center where he was paid to play ping pong all day! His mom, Mrs. Edi would often say that Mayor Barry kept all her children employed every summer.
Mickey had a wealth of skills and talents. He worked various jobs throughout his life including contracting for DC Housing, The Convention Center, and General Services Administration to name a few. Mickey had a passion for cleaning, landscaping and helping out his family and friends with anything he was called upon to do
